Agricultural Activities and excursion with the shepherd –
Cattle grazing, sowing and harvesting of hay and rye still remain the most important agricultural activities of the region. You may observe and even take an active part into the accomplishment of these activities. On request, you my also spend a day with the shepherd and its flock, and accompany them in the mountain, escorted by the sheepdogs of the region of Trás-os-Montes.

Hunting and Fishing –
The council of Vinhais has always been very well-known for its cynegetic area and its aquicolous resources. During the hunting period, besides the small game hunting, you may have the possibility to go hunting the wild boars with the local inhabitants.
During the rest of the year, you may fish the trout and the orfe in the rivers Tuela and Rabaçal, and their confluents.

Archery, crossbow and air pistol shooting
You may practice the target shooting in a proper range either with archery, crossbow or air pistols.

Visiting the region
The area of Vinhais has a rich architectonical patrimony, preserved along the years due to the low population density of the region. In the surroundings, you may appreciate old castles, megalithic monuments, fortified villages, lime-kilns, necropolis, among others.

Fumeiro de Vinhais (hometown of the traditional meat smoking) –
Nationwide famous, the smoked meats of this region are a real temptation you wouldn’t want to resist. During winter time, Regional Cooking Houses sell the typical smoked meats and other local delicacies, produced according to the ancient customs.

Donkey riding –
Riding the donkeys from Mirandela, autochthonous species of this region, has gained a new vitality due to the development of the Donkey Therapy. This activity is dedicated to the children, who may ride for short periods.

Walking holidays
The stunning landscape of the Natural Park of Montesinho offers many possibilities: you may stroll along the network of footpaths and tracks of Ladrões, duly marked, or simply wander around, appreciating the savage fauna and flora.

Mountain biking
The rolling topography of this region, as well as the low urban pressure, allow striking bike riding excursions. This is another fine way to admire the bucolic nature and splendour of the landscape.

Natural river beach
Bathing and swimming in the natural river beaches of the region are one of the most appreciated activities of inhabitants of Trás-os-Montes, who prefer the quiet and natural environment of the country side to the massif affluence of the coastline beaches.
